Tips for Successful Leadership

Are you the boss? Do you have a plan for your leadership? There are many different opinions on how modern leadership should look and there is no doubt that today’s business climate places high demands on you as a leader. We at Inhouse usually say that “it has never been so difficult to be a manager as it is today” and here we give you some puzzle pieces to succeed in your managerial role.

1. Confident and stable

Today, many companies are struggling to assert themselves in increasingly fierce competition, both about customers and staff. A leader must, therefore, radiate self-confidence and stability. Your employees need to feel confident that you know what you are doing and a person who is confident often also gives confidence and is inspiring.

2. Ability to create engagement

By working for a good cohesion where everyone in your team feels involved, you increase the individual’s willingness to perform at the top. It is therefore important that you can motivate your employees and create a mood that provides good energy. With good cohesion, loyalty also increases.

3. Coaching ability

Coaching their staff means encouraging and being there to support them – both in co-operation and in adversity. A coaching approach is based on providing both positive and critical feedback that is adapted to that particular individual. You, as a manager, must never forget that it is the employees who, for the most part, drive the organization forward.

4. Tendency to change

As a business executive, you are expected to lead development so you need to be responsive and constantly have a finger in the air to sense changes. It can be about organizational changes but also technical or social. When new situations arise, the manager often needs to be the first to jump on the train and show the way.

5. Clear goals

Perhaps most important when it comes to modern management is to lead your group towards a common goal. Where is your company going? It is your task to communicate these goals so that it is clear what you jointly work towards. Then you also need to inspire and motivate your employees to want to work in the same direction.

Use these tips as a guide and then adapt the above to your particular role, organization, and corporate culture. Good luck!
